Interim Superintendent Introduction

Posted Date: 9/18/25 (8:48 AM)

Hello SAU#6 Community,

I wanted to take a moment to say hello and introduce myself now that I have been approved by the SAU6 Board.

I recognize that this has been a tumultuous start to the school year for everyone.

Here is a little about me.

In July, I began as the new principal of Claremont Middle School.  Prior to this, I served as principal of PK-4 Central Elementary School in Bellows Falls, VT, for five years, beginning in 2020, during the Pandemic.

Before that, I was principal of PK-5 Irwin M. Jacobs Elementary School in New Bedford, MA, for five years.

I began my official teaching career in third, fourth grades (all subjects), and fifth grade (Reading and Social Studies) in 1995, after subbing for a few years while in graduate school.  I taught in both the elementary and middle school buildings as part of Atlantis Charter School in Fall River,  MA.  I taught for 12 years before becoming the Lower School Principal in a K-8 system.  I served on the Board of Trustees there for three years and was Board Secretary for one of those years.  I was principal there for six years.

Just prior to serving in New Bedford,  I briefly worked for Schoolworks.  This is an educational consulting firm supporting improvement efforts with partner schools.  Turnaround work is just one aspect of their mission, and this opportunity allowed me to assist a team of evaluators tasked with assessing some schools in need of improvement in Massachusetts.

I have also served for five years on the Building Committee for Tiverton Public Library in my former town in RI. We planned, designed, and built a brand new public library there.

I grew up in Foxborough, MA, and I am a Patriots fan, even before the good years.  While I worked in MA for over 25 years, I lived in RI for most of them.

I also spent five wonderful years helping to design,  plan, and support the building of the then-new Irwin M. Jacobs Elementary School.  This opened to the public in 2017.  We were relocated from a shared space to allow for a different school to inhabit the space, and we moved our entire elementary school twice in one school year, due to the fact that our building was not yet ready to be inhabited.

I do hold my Principals' and Superintendents'  licenses in MA and VT.  I am in the process of being licensed in NH.

I will be working with the Boards and Staff to help move our districts forward.

Thank you for your dedication to SAU6.
I appreciate you.
